What to Specify—Key Points:

  • All EPMS device clocks shall be sync'd within 100 µs.
  • EPMS devices shall be sync'd using PTP (IEEE1588) protocol over Ethernet.
  • The first SER device shall serve as PTP Master, all other SERs shall sync automatically via PTP.
  • EPMS devices without PTP shall be sync'd via legacy protocol from a PTP-enabled SER.
  • The Simple PTP Profile shall be used so that no special 1588 switches are required to maintain the specified accuracy.
  • Each SER device shall provide an embedded web interface for monitoring of status and events using a standard web browser.
  • [OPTIONAL] Each SER device shall output a signal to trigger a waveform capture by a power meter, coincident with any event.
  • [OPTIONAL] A GPS antenna and clock shall be supplied to provide an accurate time reference traceable to UTC.
  • [OPTIONAL] The EPMS software shall include native drivers for SERs plus analysis and reporting for root cause analysis.
